Seasonal Fun in Cheshire

Make lasting memories together

Whatever time of year you stay with us at Crewe Hall Hotel, there’s always plenty to do in Cheshire. Here’s some of our favourite things to do each season…

Spring

The Really Wild Egg Trail (50 minute drive)
Grab your magnifying glass and go on a hunt.

Chester Zoo has a wonderful collection of animals, but over the Easter period they’re hosting an easter egg hunt, with a twist. Search the zoo for six eggs belongning to some of their animals and learn all about their life cycles.

Get hunting

Betley Court Gardens (10 minute drive)
Take a stroll around the gardens.

Dating back three centuries, you can explore the 10-acre grounds and gardens of Betley Court. Spring is an especially good time to visit, all the flowers are in bloom and the woods are carpeted in fragrant bluebells. It’s the perfect place to spend a sunny spring day.

Take a look

Summer

Funtopia (16 minute drive)
Get active at Funtopia.

Specially designed for young children, this is the perfect place to go during the school holidays. Enjoy a fun-filled day of giant inflatables, live shows, giant games and even character meet and greets – the kids will never want to leave.

Chester Mystery Plays (55 minute drive)
Feel the anticipation.

Only occurring once every five years, Chester Mystery Plays is one of the highlights of the British arts calendar. The play remains a complete surprise until it starts, so if you feel up to a little bit of intrigue, this could be for you.

Take a chance

Autumn

BeWILDerwood (30 minute drive)
Go on an adventure.

Lose yourself in the world of Boggles as you traverse the magical forest setting of BeWILDerwood. Autumn is one of the best times to visit this fantastical place – the changing leaves and slight nip in the air really do add to the mystery.

Start your journey

Ghost Hunts
Better keep your wits about you.

With Halloween lurking, autumn is definitely the best time to go on a ghost hunt. Use real paranormal detecting equipment and with any luck you’ll encounter something otherworldly.

Test your mettle

Winter

Chester Christmas Market (55 miute drive)
No winter getaway is complete without a visit to a Christmas market.

With over 70 artisan chalets, Chester Christmas Market is the place to find something one-of-a-kind and personal to gift your loved ones for Christmas. With plenty of food and drinks flowing, you won’t want to leave.

Get in the holiday spirit

You’ll be welcomed with a delicious seasonal cocktail before getting to taste a variety of gins, plus a meet and greet with one of the distillers. After a tour of the factory, you’ll get another couple of tasters and a chance to mingle with the other attendees.
